Landfill Solar Project

The City of Bath executed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with local provider ReVision Energy Inc (ReVision) in November 2023 for ReVision to design and develop a solar array to be located on capped portions of the municipal landfill on Detritus Drive. The electricity generated by the project offset utility costs of municipal accounts through participation in the Net Energy Billing (NEB Program).

• Ballasted system avoids landfill cap disturbance, including impact to settlement, or performance as approved landfill closure system
• System size 809.48 kW DC / 650 kW AC
• Estimated production 1,047,000 kWh / yr

Project Approvals

• Central Maine Power distributed generation impact study and approval for interconnection
• City of Bath Planning Board Approval
• Maine Department of Environmental Protection Solid Waste Minor Revision – For Installation of Solar on Closed Landfill
• City of Bath Building Permit

Construction Activities

• Construction to be executed by ReVision and its subcontractors starting summer/fall 2026.
• A preconstruction meeting will be held between ReVision, City Officials, DEP, and SME prior to site work commencing.
• Revision and City Public Works are coordinating to limit construction impact to normal Landfill use by residents.
• CMP to coordinate single phase to three phase upgrades on High St from Harward Ln to the Landfill on Detritus Drive. The upgrade will include tree trimming. City will alert affected landowners as to CMP schedule, once provided.
