Why are we doing this project?

The City of Bath will be conducting sewer main upgrades on Harward Street as part of the Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Separation Project. The Harward drainage area, the largest part of the Bath sewage system, consistently sees overflow problems in times when heavy rainfall outpaces the Water Pollution Control Facility's ability to pump out and treat the storm water and sewage

How is this project being funded?

Bath’s Sewer upgrades are funded through a voter approved bond and state resources to help protect the Kennebec River and improve water quality. These funds help upgrade aging sewer and stormwater systems, separate combined lines, and reduce overflow events during heavy rain. CSO projects are completed in phases to manage costs and limit impacts on residents and businesses.
